Purpose

The Columbia Valley Pride Society is dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters inclusivity, respect, and equality for all individuals, particularly those from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all members, volunteers, participants, and partners, and provides guidelines for behavior to ensure our activities and spaces are safe, enriching, and free from discrimination.

Scope

This Code applies to all society activities, including, but not limited to, meetings, events, workshops, online forums, and social media managed by the Columbia Valley Pride Society.

  • Collaboration: Cooperate in good faith, value each other’s ideas, and support each other in creating a positive and vibrant community.
  • Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all events and interactions. Represent the society and its ideals responsibly.
  • Privacy: Respect the privacy and boundaries of others. Confidential information shared within the society must be treated with the utmost discretion and integrity.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment and bullying.
  • Discriminatory actions or comments based on personal characteristics such as race, gender, sexuality, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, or religion.
  • Disruption of events or meetings.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

No Retaliation

The Columbia Valley Pride society strictly prohibits retaliation against any member, volunteer, participant, or partner who reports harassment, discrimination, or other violations of this Code of Conduct, or who assists in the investigation of such reports. Acts of retaliation will be addressed with the same level of seriousness as direct breaches of this Code.

Reporting and Enforcement

  • Reporting: If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, including retaliation, or have any other concerns, please notify a society organizer or board member immediately.
  • Enforcement: Complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly by the board or designated committee. Actions in response may range from warnings to expulsion from the society, depending on the severity of the breach.

Conclusion

The Columbia Valley Pride Society is committed to upholding these standards as part of our dedication to fostering an inclusive community. We expect all members, volunteers, and participants to help us create safe and positive experiences for everyone.
